Many works of art were lost during the times of the reformation around 1531, but still St. Mary’s Church hosts many gems.
The baptismal font from 1290, the late gothic altars from 15th century, the pulpit from 1574/1723 and the baroque items like high altar, organ facade and duke’s loft or important artworks, but the most famous of them is the Astronomical Clock from 1472, situated in the East end of the church, behind the main altar. Daily at 12 o’clock, the apostles‘ procession can be watched.
For visitors, a guiding leaflet will be handed out at the ticket counter. In a small shop (south of the chancel area), you can purchase leaflets and books on St. Mary’s in general or certain works of art. Some of them are available in English language. Postcards and Compact Discs are available, too.
2021: Opening of the shop may be affected by corona measures!
